what is finasteride used for
Finasteride is a medication used to treat male pattern hair loss (gradual thinning of the hair on the scalp, leading to a receding hairline or balding on the top of the head in men) and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) such as frequent and difficult urination. It may reduce the chance of acute urinary retention (sudden inability to urinate) and may decrease the chance that prostate surgery will be needed. It is important to note that finasteride is a prescription drug and should only be taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Finasteride is a DHT blocker. DHT (dihydrotestosterone) plays a starring role in male pattern baldness; it’s a hormone that binds to men’s hair follicles and damages them, ultimately rendering them unable to grow new hair.
