Description:
Plecanatide is an analog of uroguanylin, an orally active guanylate cyclase-C (GC-C) receptor agonist, in T84 cells, EC50 value 190 nM. Plecanatide can be used in the study of chronic idiopathic constipation and has anti-inflammatory activity in mouse colitis models.
Applications:
Plecanatide is used in the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. It works as a laxative by drawing water in to the gastrointestinal tract thereby softening stool and encouraging its natural passage.
