CAS:94-15-5
MF:C16H26N2O2
It also known as DMC or larocaine, is a compound with stimulating effects similar to those of coca. It was used in the 1930s as a local anesthetic in dentistry and ophthalmology. Just like coca, it is addictive due to its stimulation of the reward pathway in the brain. However, it is a legal coca replacement in some countries and is even listed by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) under the category “synthetic coca derivatives”. The structure of it, being a 4-aminobenzoic acid ester, resembles that of procaine.
