CAS:925-90-6
MF:C2H5BrMg
Ethylmagnesium bromide is commercially available, usually as a solution in diethyl ether or tetrahydrofuran. It may be prepared in the normal manner of Grignard reagents — by reacting bromoethane with magnesium in diethyl ether:

ethylmagnesium bromide reaction
It has been shown that ethylmagnesium bromide reacts with epichlorohydrin to” give a chloro-amyl alcohol as well as glycerol chloro- bromohydrin. 2. The chloro-amyl alcohol which is formed has been found to be l-chloropentanol-2. ketones and aldehydes, forming hydrazones or azines by eliminationof water.
